The biggest European faire of makers, the Rome Maker Faire took place from 12 to 14 of October 2018 under the organization of a series of a broad consortium of high-level partners in the digital and public sphere. Among the exhibition space, the thousands of visitors had the chance to get to know and test the eCraft2Learn ecosystem. To promote our participation a description of the project and the workshop was made available on the RMF website (eCraft2Learn page at Rome Maker Faire).
During all three days, thousands of visitors including teachers, parents, children and researchers had the chance to interact with the robotic artifacts created by children during the pilots in Athens, tinker their construction and explore the code behind their behavior.
In conjunction to the exhibition at the Rome Maker Faire, on the 11th of October, eCraft2Learn partners UNIPD and EDUMOTIVA organized the international conference EDUROBOTICS2018 in cooperation with the University of Rome La Sapienza, under the topic ‘Educational Robotics in the Makers Era’ with one of the main aims to disseminate the findings of the eCraft2Learn project. The conference concept was built on the pedagogical theories of constructivism and constructionism (Piaget, Papert) aiming at positioning educational robotics in the Makers Era, identifying connections with digital fabrication and exploring how educational robotics can support skill-building in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths (STEAM) and the development of creative thinking, collaborative, and problem solving skills – skills that are essential in the workplace of the 21st century.
The conference was organized in the framework of the European Robotics Week´, and a conference website was created to convey more information on registration, topics etc.
